SOUP STOCK 03 is all wrapped up and we’re proud to announce the winners are Marty Stano and Kelly Gallagher. They received a $117 grant towards their upcoming road trip from Ann Arbor, MI to Alaska to Argentina. They will be documenting the project along the way, as well as looking for opportunities to share their knowledge of filmmaking with children across the Western Hemisphere.
Today’s SOUP STOCK was a very close race, with Jeff Tenza’s local farmer film project being edged out by a single vote. Jeff, we hope that you’ll resubmit your project next month since we think it’s an excellent idea.
Special thanks to Bad Fairy, Wonder Woman, and Anita LeBlanc for the amazing soups you made for us today. Big ups to Friday Mornings @ SELMA for the use of bowls, spoons and napkins. To everyone who came out to support the project, we couldn’t have done it without you. We hope to see you again next month!

With that being said, for these events to continue successfully we depend on creative and engaging proposals from the Ann Arbor community. Proposals for the next event are due Friday, April 16th at 5pm via email. Wow! Our inaugural Soup Stock event here in Ann Arbor was a great success. First off, we would like to congratulate C. Jacqueline Wood for her winning project proposal titled REFUSE. Thank you so much to everyone who attended the event. Thank you to Hathaway’s Hideaway for proving such an amazing service and space to the Ann Arbor community. A special thanks to Lisa Gottlieb for proving a warm potful of her Vegetarian Chili and to Friday Mornings @ SELMA for lending us their bowls, spoons, and napkins. Another shoutout goes to Slow Food Huron Valley for supporting the event. And last, but not least, to all of you who loaned us your slow cookers including Laura Meisler, Anita LeBlanc, Barb Marcotte, and Chrisstina Hamilton.
With everyone’s generous support we were able to award Jacqueline $149 towards her project. We will be setting up a contributor account for her on this blog so you can follow the progress of her project. Stay tuned for the April call for proposals!
